Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima is undoutably one of the most famous and recognizable photographs in history, depicting five US Marines and a Navy corpsman rasing the US flag during the Battle of Iwo Jima during WWII.

The USMC War Memorial, recreating this scene, is in Washington DC, adjacent to the Arlington National Cemetery.
